Re: 2015 14er Speed Record Attempt
Is it wrong to still be checking the DeLorme site?! Gotta easssse out of these things.
Your biggest challenge isn't someone else. It's the ache in your lungs and the burning in your legs, and the voice inside you that yells, "CAN'T", but you don't listen. You just push harder. And then you hear the voice whisper, "can." And you discover that the person you thought you were is no match for the one you really are.

Re: 2015 14er Speed Record Attempt
Following up on that theme, I certainly don't want to try to obligate Andrew in any way, but would it be possible perhaps for him to donate some small item that was used in his successful FKT outing? That item could then be auctioned, perhaps on 14ers.com, and the proceeds sent to CFI. On the other hand, if he wants to keep everything from the attempt, that is totally his choice and no one would fault him. Just a suggestion.mtgirl wrote:It was forum member semitrueskerm. Unfortunately, I still have it and have forgotten your name. Give me a call at 503-234-2535, and I will mail it to you.
EDIT: I sent semitrueskerm a PM, giving him your phone number, in the event neither of you see this. I also told him that since THE CAVE DOG wore his headlamp, that he should auction it on here and donate the proceeds to CFI.

It was an absolute privilege to be able to cheer Andrew on at the finish line last night and share in the glory with the support team! What an amazing group. Andrew - thanks for keeping the 14er stoke high and continuing to push the limits of what's humanly possible. You've inspired me to take on my own "mini-Hamilton challenge" this year.

Sure, I'll auction it off. Need to get CD and AH to autograph it to boost up the offers.
Working on getting it back to CO for a future auction day. Hell, I'll throw in my left sock from last night as well....sort of a bonus.

Glenmoz, awesome stats!
Andrew, you have a lifetime invitation for drinks on me. I can't imagine the emotions you are going through you after regaining the title after fifteen years! Also, you could get 55 free which wich sandwiches if you walked into one of their stores, just sayin.

You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.

Re: 2015 14er Speed Record Attempt
The old US Army slogan "We do more before 9 AM than most people do all day" seems somehow very inadequate after this! Well...it does say "most people" and Andrew is definitely not most.
Congratulations Andrew and team on a wonderful accomplishment!
