My thoughts exactly. Whether he breaks the record or not, I think a lot more people will have a better realization of what Cave Dog actually accomplished. I know I will.
Agree, seeing this unfold in real time gives me a much better appreciation of what Cave Dog accomplished and what Homie is doing.

Looks to me like instead of heading down GG he opted to return to American Basin for a bit of a rest on the drive to the GG TH. Or maybe he will do the more direct Mill Creek CG option for those two?

Nope, I was wrong. The SPOT was just off a bit on the summit. He's moving back down the west slopes into American Basin.

EDIT -- I'm with you AndYouSeeMe.

I hope you are right. Maybe it will get the press something like this deserves!

And yes, Cave Dog's record is strong.

@ TMatthews - love your comment on the KMGH site - "Um, calling him a "hiker" is like calling an ultra-marathoner a power walker." :-D

What a night it must have been last night, in the dark rain on the Wilsons and Sneffels. Amazing first day. Go Homie!!

I wonder if Bill is his only support crew now, and is there going to be anybody with him on the peaks or all solo? Not that many could keep up, but it might help his mental state to have company as this thing moves on. According to Cave Dogs rules it seems nobody actually paced him, if he had company he had to be the leader at all times. And carry your own water, food, gear, etc.

Ok, Terry, at al. - how should Homie be called? Ultramountaineer? Speed hiker? Speed climber? I'll be happy to pass the proper definition along.

Looks like Homie went from the summit back down to trailhead in 45 minutes. On his way to the next peak....
