Maybe “exposure” would be a better term than difficulty?

On the scale of 0-6 (San Luis - Bells Traverse).
There's more to life than 14ers. There are 13ers.

Like Uncompahgre's, the issue is two-fold: it doesn't get warm enough for stuff to break down, and it doesn't get to dry out as liquid is co-mingled with solid waste. For those who haven't experienced it, take a good whiff of some ammonia while in a portapotty. The USFS guy servicing it used a mask due to the fumes. It's enough some prop the door open when using.

Once again, the gasbag shows how all-knowing he is, especially as it relates to manure.

I'm hoping next time he gets rolling on the s**t that he can post some images and diagrams to more fully explain.

Interesting view. Do you know the location of this restroom?

My only reference on this topic is the one Boulder Field near keyhole for Long’s peak. Low walls that allow for awkward social experience with people waiting in line. At least ventilation is good.

Rank is the perfect word for that outhouse. Definitely a 6. The Lake Como Road of outhouses. At least it was a few years back when I was there. Things may have changed.

If only it were turned around some 135°, this outhouse would compete for the world's most scenic view.

I climbed Longs for the first time last year and must say 'awkward social experience' is putting it mildly. I thought, oh good, I've got to go and saw a guy down there waiting. Went around to the front door and there is this young woman sitting on the toilet, I can't see below her chest area but man was that not a comfy situation. Looked like she was not doing well with the two guys waiting or her in nearly full view nor was she doing well intestinally. Looks like the wind must blow that thing around pretty good.
"Quicker than I can tell it, my hands failed to hold, my feet slipped, and down I went with almost an arrow’s rapidity. An eternity of thought, of life, of death, wife, and home concentrated on my mind in those two seconds. Fortunately for me, I threw my right arm around a projecting boulder which stood above the icy plain some two or three feet." Rev. Elijah Lamb

So the ones on Longs are solar powered and open top to perform at altitude. Most of the backcountry toilets in the park are completely open air, in the forest.

I've heard the Inca trail toilets are the worst.
