I just checked ATV rental rates in Marble and see the same situation I experienced in 2020, ATV rates are much higher than renting a Jeep. Not obvious why this is the case, maybe related to insurance.nyker wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 7:06 pm Depending on where you are hiking, you can also rent and arrange to have an UTV / Side by Side ATV delivered to the trailhead and that should get you up most roads and are covered so you wont get soaked if it rains; maybe even get driven to the TH if its close to the rental location.

it's because a jeep will rattle the brains right out of your head and requires driver skill, while pretty much any idiot can drive a UTV and enjoy an INCREDIBLY comfortable ride. it's incredibly obvious if you've ridden or driven both.wineguy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 8:26 amI just checked ATV rental rates in Marble and see the same situation I experienced in 2020, ATV rates are much higher than renting a Jeep. Probably because it has to be hauled to the trailhead and returned from the trailhead?wineguy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 8:26 amI just checked ATV rental rates in Marble and see the same situation I experienced in 2020, ATV rates are much higher than renting a Jeep. Yes, a great place. I've rented from them several times, last in 9/2023. Mike Anderson (the owner) is very reasonable. He had a beat-to-s**t Cherokee that was lifted, etc., for well under $200/day. I don't recall what his newer, nicer Jeeps go for, but I'm sure the rates are fair. Paying cash helps because of the card swipe fees.TomPierce wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 5:58 pm I rented a Jeep Wrangler once from a company called Anderson Mountain Rental out of Salida. I forgot why, maybe my car was in the shop, not sure. They were very professional, easy process, rates were fine to me but that was many years ago. The Jeep was a CJ5/7, can't remember, but plenty capable for 4wd roads. I just checked, they're still in business.

I recall that his speech about damages to the vehicle went something like, "You dent the bumper, no problem. You rip the bumper clean off, problem."
