I think the main motivation was saving 1600' vertical. Only 3000 to gain for Antero vs. 4600 for Shavano. And the quick glissade didn't hurt, I'm sure.

He lost 1200 feet in 10 minutes over the two waypoints around the angel. In the next 10 minutes he lost 500 feet, which still ain't bad.

Yeah starting at 11k and ending at 10k is a lot better than the other way around.

Ah, I was wondering about that. I would have thought ascending Antero from the South (Browns Lake area) AFTER Shav/Tab would be easier -- all roadbed and South-facing roadbed at that. Then Andrew could conceivably glissade down the N side-ish of Antero. The extra thousand feet saving going N to S probably ruled the day, though.

Looks like he's about to begin Princeton. Looking out my window, it is a beautiful evening and I'm sorry I'm not up there myself.

He was up and down this morning in the time it took us just to get up on Pikes on Saturday. I'm just amazed at what he is accomplishing.

And sure enough, there was the flash of a headlamp atop Princeton just a few minutes ago. My jaw is on the floor over what this takes! 'Same sentiments to Cave Dog, Homie, and all other such titans. Keep up the phenomenal effort & stay safe, good man.

2:04 to summit Princeton. That's just sick. I thought I did very well to do it in 2:25. Of course, if I tried to climb 5 in one day, I'd be reduced to a pile of quivering, formless flesh.

I have concluded Andrew is an alien that can absorb oxygen through its skin and needs no rest. Maybe when its done, it will return to the mother ship in the San Luis valley! LOL.

Dave, I think he draws strength from the magic gems he finds at the top of each peak. Worked for his sons.

Did something happen at the Denny Creek TH? I show him arriving at 1:18 AM but not hiking until an hour and 40 minutes later. Still well on his way to the record, but I was surprised to wake up this morning and see he hadn't summited Yale.
