(people die in cairngorms in Avalanches, people die from falls there too, people have basically frozen to death in over 120mph blizzards.. you guys call me the ignorant one? i say you are ignorant.
According to this, the British Isles have a maritime climate, and if you had even an introductory avalanche training course, you would know that snowpack in a maritime climate behaves very differently from snowpack in a continental climate (what we have in Colorado). Temperatures and storm cycles -- which obviously play a huge role in affecting avalanche danger -- are very different. It's not that avalanche danger here is more extreme than the danger in Scotland, it's that it is a lot different.
Like others have suggested, if you are intent on doing the climbs you mentioned, you need to, at the very least, have a level 1 avalanche class so you have some understanding of how snowpack in a continental climate behaves.
+1. That's *exactly* what I was referring to. Thanks for the explanation, shredthegnar10.

Don't apologize to me. You need help, and I feel sorry for you. Your choice of targeting me with your incredibly rude over-reaction - and with me being the only woman to have commented on this thread up until shred's post on avalanche conditions which appeared after your little blow-up - displays major psychological issues with the opposite sex and shows that you are in dire need of real professional help. You're not going to find it on a mountaineering forum.

Please get that help, preferably before you're old enough to start dating, and issuing your verbal abuse on other women - or worse (i.e., other forms of abuse, or even going on to pollute the gene pool and training the little wuldiers to follow your cowardly lead with regard to the proper treatment of women).

There *is* a common condition associated with men acting out this way, symptomized by an outward hatred toward women (generally from a safe haven, such as from behind an anonymous username - if "G" was still on this forum we could use him as a good example) coupled with a need to constantly reassert their male prowess, but I'm not going to try to publicly psychoanalyze, and thus embarrass, you. You should speak to a professional.

Good luck.
wow! you think im sexist? thats damn funny.. you have no answers to my replies to you, so you bring on the sexist bollocks, the only lifeline you had is that somone else bailed you out and gave you a way to respond about the avy remarks, yes they are different.. and i think this is my 3rd or 4th time saying it now... even if theye are different, they still end the same way..

i bet you had never even heard of cairngorms before i mentioned it here.. let alone been there! but yet you comment on it.

i dont care if your a woman or man or hermaphrodite... you will get the same replies...

and if i think your a idiot that is just trying to pick petty crap with a less experience person than your self, ill say so. (i dont think i need to physically have to at this point, you get the idea).

Ps. good luck on the "embarrass you" thing.. im far from sexist and you have 0 grounds to think otherwise... and no way of showing i do, the reason you cant "Embarrass" me this way is because you are being dumb in assuming that my personality is that of a sexist pig that thinks men are better than women..

i dont even think you think that atall, its just a stupid response you had to come up with to try feel better about your out of the blue ball crap post that had nothing to do with what my OP was about, you just try to belittle me and it wont work..

either actually contribute by replying to my actual OP question, or bugger off and try belittle somone else..

Wuldier, you sound like an idiot. The fact that you think you have any business on any mountain that is more difficult than a walkup in the winter highlights that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You have done a few climbs in the UK and gone up Elbert in the winter, one of the easiest winter 14ers, so now you're ready for the Bells, Capitol and the Wilsons? What a joke, the Sawtooth in the winter is above your skill level too, doesn't mean you can't make it, but it does mean if you do that it will be more attributable to luck than any skill or knowledge. I can't wait to see the trip report, except there won't be one. Do yourself a favor and tone down the defensiveness, you're the one who came on a public forum and asked for advice, if you didn't want any then you shouldn't have asked.

The bolding is mine.

Wuldier, it has been said that the internet is written in pen: http://www.14ers.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 40#p138040

A couple questions before I make my climbing suggestions. Have you any avalanche training here in Colorado? When did you climb the peaks in Scotland? What routes?

I said you sounded like an idiot, idiot. You called me a "damn fool." Whether or not you backed off of the idea of climbing Capitol, you clearly didn't get the point because you are now here, two years later, arguing that you're ready for Maroon, an equally formidable climb in the winter.

please! read what i said, i said i was thinking about them peaks and asked what people think..

many times since then i have said i am aiming for sawtooth now.. NOT maroon! so how am i arguing that im ready for that peak? asking about it and arguing sying im ready are two different things..

the only reason im getting so hot in this thread is because some of you simply dont listen to what im saying and are running on assumptions and jumping to conclusions..

Wuldier,
Calling a woman a tart, no matter how snarky you think she is, isn't cool to most of us.

Okay, I've struggled to read every exclamation point riddled post you've made, but I have. The entire time you have taken an extremely defensive position about your abilities and, in my opinion, refused to listen to reason. Then you got personal with SusanJoyPaul, one of the nicest and most informative members of this community, and I felt it was time to have a little go at you. I'm not going to bicker back and forth, I've told you where I'm coming from, and the rest of this extremely entertaining thread speaks for itself. Happy New Year.

Yup, that thread was from March 2008, when his "buds were landing on Tuesday" and they were going up Thursday "to get Capitol, Snowmass and Elbert in five days" (and he "couldn't bloody wait!")

He threatened to do Capitol *again* in Apr/May 2009: http://www.14ers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=17794" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I guess he thought by changing the destination this year he could disguise himself and no one would ask him about the trip reports for Capitol in 2008, and again in 2009.

Wuldier, Dorothy, dude, this is the Internet. We've all heard of the Cairngorns, and you're not in Kansas anymore.
