With the road to Kite Lake not being snow free yet I was wondering if there are good campsites along the road to Kite Lake? I recall that there is a lot of private property along the way but couldn't remember if there are some spots that work for camping as well.
Thanks.

Re: Camping near Kite Lake
Yes it is all private property along the way. I hope you are able to drive all the way to the camping area. Even parking on the road creates angst amongst the locals. This spring I parked at the end of the cleared road thinking it was the winter TH, but it wasn't. It was merely were they had stopped clearing the road the day before. When they came back they piled big ice chunks on all 3 sides of my truck to try and prevent me from being able to leave. They left a 2' wide dent in my passenger door from one of the ice chunks. So be careful where you park and very careful of where you camp. I wouldn't want your vehicle damaged but we wouldn't want to lose access to kite like if there are too many complaints from Private Land Owners about hikers. If you are able to get past the last operating mine where there is a little parking area a maintained building and 1 dubious front end loader, I believe you may not disturb anyone even if it is private if you are quiet and clean.

In General, paring is not allowed on county roads in Colorado.
There is National Forest access along the road to Kite Lake CG, but you would need a very detailed map/gps to spot it.
You would probably want to camp somewhere else closeby, like on the top of Hoosier pass, etc.
