Hi all,
Haven't been to Sherman before, so unfamiliar with the area. Are there any dispersed camping sights near (not at) any of the trailheads? Looking to pitch a tent away from campground. Your input is appreciated!
Best,
Chris

Fourmile and Horseshoe campgrounds are on the way to the standard trailhead, other than those two places I'm not sure that you'll be able to camp without having to worry about being on private property...but I'm not 100% sure on that. But I really don't recall anywhere to camp if you are making your approach from the Leadville side. I think all that area is private property.
Seems like the times that I need a mountain the most are the times that I can not get to them.

Good luck with pitching a tent! My friends and I "car camped", either sleeping in our vehicles or using a roof top tent (me, a Tepui on my Subaru Impreza) at a relatively level pull off for the standard route up the mountain––past the official parking area, but before the road gate.
It's doable to put up a tent there, but remember it'll be rocky, so you'll want plenty of padding.

There are a handful of sites on the Leadville side. I'd check about the private property part but it didn't look that way to me. I think you can just throw a tent up and there are at least a few nice spots.

East Ridge from Thompson Park has some good spots and is a nice alternative to the standard routes.
