camping near Grand Lake

Post by rdp32 »

I plan on hiking Mt. Ida from Milner Pass this weekend and am hoping to camp somewhere nearby the night before (probably in the vicinity of Grand Lake or Lake Granby?). I will probably be arriving and departing in the dark, so all I care about is that it's a quiet, inexpensive place to throw down a tent somewhere close to the West side of RMNP. Any recommendations?

You may have to head north along SH 125 for somewhere that fits that description. It's not that far from Granby.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

Probably a little late for you, but CR 4 off of Hwy 34 is Stillwater Pass, it's dirt and has many car camping options.
I ain't never seen 'em, but my common sense tells me the Andes is foothills, and the Alps is for children to climb! These here is God's finest sculpturing's! There ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here! And there ain't no priests excepting the birds. By God, I are a mountain man, and I'll live 'til an arrow or a bullet finds me. And then I'll leave my bones on this great map of the magnificent...
