Beaver Creek TH (Silverheels)

Post by gonefishing05 »

Wondering if anyone can comment on the road conditions to the parking lot BEFORE the creek crossing (2wd lot). Is the road leading to it plowed in the winter and easily accessible? Also, it appears that, once in the lot, you have entered Pike National Forest. Does this mean dispersed camping is allowed?

I called Forest Services yesterday to ask these questions and all they would tell me is that the gate is locked for the winter.

I have been to that winter lot before and it was plowed/snowpacked (not bare dirt) when I did it. I haven't been there this year, so can't speak to current conditions. The road beyond the gate was well packed out by snowshoers/cross county skiers up to the 4x4 turnoff and I think this is a relatively popular area for Fairplay residents.

I can't answer the camping question, I don't recall any no camping signs, but its been a few years.
