270,000 miles, $3000.
This should be a great deal for someone. This vehicle has been exploring the backroads of Colorado and beyond since pretty much the day I bought it new, and I'd like for it to continue to do so.
Mechanics at Nissan and an independent repair shop say that the vehicle is in pretty good shape considering the miles on it. Over the years I've spent more on maintenance than I paid for the vehicle new. At many points I asked whether it made sense to continue putting money into it and was told that based on the condition of the engine and transmission, it was.
Currently, the suspension needs major work, control arms etc, that was quoted at around $3500 last fall. I was told the vehicle should not be driven at highway speeds until those repairs are made. Since that diagnosis, I've driven it very sparingly, haven't taken it further than 10 miles from my home and have avoided highways.
Other issues: air conditioning doesn't work (repair quoted at $600). Some of the steering wheel controls for the radio don't work. One internal light is permanently on if the key is in the ignition. While there is very little rust, the paint has extensive "arizona pinstriping" (scratches from bushes). An airbag warning light is continually on, a nuisance I've ignored for years; I've had this looked at and while the diagnosis wasn't definitive, it was felt that a bad sensor was the problem. Rear sway bar is gone meaning it rides a rougher on pavement but articulates better when rock crawling. The interior is in decent shape but needs a deep cleaning.
Obviously, it's far from cherry, but for 7 or 8 K total (including necessary repairs) it should make a good dirtbagging vehicle, capable of driving to places such as Hunchback Pass TH or Imogene Pass. (Without a crazy amount of modification it would not be capable of making it all the way up the Lake Como road).
