I've done these a couple times. Last summer I went past Columbia to Kit. Great.

Question did you do up to South Colony Lakes trail? If so, is there still a bunch of snow in the basin? Is there still snow on the Ellingwood Arete?

Thanks in advance!

Richard

Ellingwood Arete

Hey Richard, funny you mention that. The arete is on my 2020 to-do list and I was just talking to a friend about doing the direct start later this month.
There is currently some snow on the ledges but I think that could make for a fun mixed climb. Yes, went up SLC and there is some snow in the basin but nothing that I felt warranted snowshoes. Some downed trees to navigate but the majority was dry, areas with snow are melting quick and turning into mud puddles.

Hey Rose, thanks for the Beta. I've been wanting to do the Arete for a couple years. I tried last summer but got blown off by the wind. I'm hoping early to mid June. Maybe I'll see you up there. Good luck! R

Hey Rose,
Did you get any shots looking at the upper slopes of the western route to Adams? I suspect its pretty much all clear looking at how shockingly dry everything is already. Looking at heading down soon. Thanks!

Unfortunately, no pics of Adams but yes, everything is pretty much dry above above treeline and what remains below is quickly melting. Enjoy!
