From Obstruction, mostly dry. One small snow patch on the backside of Kitty Kat that is unavoidable. Mosquitos are out in full force ! 16.5 miles rt, 5500ft gain.
Hey Richard, funny you mention that. The arete is on my 2020 to-do list and I was just talking to a friend about doing the direct start later this month.
There is currently some snow on the ledges but I think that could make for a fun mixed climb. Yes, went up SLC and there is some snow in the basin but nothing that I felt warranted snowshoes. Some downed trees to navigate but the majority was dry, areas with snow are melting quick and turning into mud puddles.
Hey Rose, thanks for the Beta. I€„¢ve been wanting to do the Arete for a couple years. I tried last summer but got blown off by the wind. I€„¢m hoping early to mid June. Maybe I€„¢ll see you up there. Good luck! R
Hey Rose,
Did you get any shots looking at the upper slopes of the western route to Adams? I suspect its pretty much all clear looking at how shockingly dry everything is already. Looking at heading down soon. Thanks!
