Condition Update

Similar to last week. In the interim, several new inches of snow had fallen, but was boot tracked for 2 miles again. In fact, more bare ground those first 2 miles than last week. I re-trenched from there. Pretty much no wind this time, and snow conditions around the false summit were better. That plus me sacking-up got me to the summit this time. One could also follow the trail to the pass and up the south ridge. Lots of bare spots getting up to the saddle this time, too.

Nice work and persistence. Surprising peak in the off season. The first time, it took 12 hrs up/ 4 hrs down and we summitted after sunset. The second time, it took around 12 hrs again, but due to a convoluted route.

More like embarrassed that I didn't make it last week. That wind just sucked every ounce of desire I had. And the forecast was better for that area than other areas, so I felt I should clean up my mess. Ryan, I think I read about your long day over on the Summitpost summit register. Didn't know you were on that one, til now. Sounds like you guys whacked a lot more bushes to avoid avy danger, too. That would definitely make it harder.
