Re: Who is the Baron??
"His features tend to alternate between two characteristic expressions: The ï¬rst, a look of ï¬erce intensity, which, combined with beetling eyebrows and flowing beard and hair, give him an air of Zeus-like authority... The second is his trademark smile—a reflexive baring of his very white, even teeth behind his beard—which gleams on friend and foe without distinction, like the smile of a crocodile."

I know! I know! I know! But I won't say who. :D
The photo he posted totally helps.

Is it KIMMARIELOVESCOLORADO?

On my first take-off, I hit second gear and went through the speed limit on a two-lane blacktop highway full of ranch traffic. By the time I went up to third, I was going 75 and the tach was barely above 4000 rpm....
And that's when the Ducati got its second wind. From 4000 to 6000 in third will take you from 75 mph to 95 in two seconds - and after that, Bubba, you still have fourth, fifth, and sixth. Ho, ho.

Re: Who is the Baron??
I know the answer, but it looks like a lot of other people don't.
Or maybe I'm just being misleading.

Nah, doesn't quite fit. Baron and Tom do share an extensive knowledge of mountaineering, but the rest of the puzzle doesn't quite work knowing Tom's personality, unless he's incredibly adept at deceptionDoug Shaw wrote:I have a suspicion that The Baron is Tom Pierce's Mr. Hyde...

I had the same pair of pants made by Bananna, back in the 80's.Jim Davies wrote:I was gonna guess that guy. Or possibly Ken Nolan.
Maybe The Baron is Gary Neptune....

Out all day and I return to find this: CSI -- 14ers.com.
My favorite bit was on the Do You Use An Autoblock thread, when Andy quoted The Baron:
I give The Baron credit for knowing his stuff, being fun, and having the sense to have never responded to a single message by g.

I'm terrified of rappelling and this gives me a lot more control and a sense of safety. If a rappel is vertical or overhanging then I also usually stick a couple of carabiners through my belay device to add extra friction and slow the rappel down that much more.

Re: Who is the Baron??
I've always thought maybe Workman, but I'm not sure if it matters. I think he contributes good information in a variety of areas.
Not so sure the Baron is Andy, but they definitely seem connected.
And nothing against Andy (or what he's accomplished, that I've read about), but I get the impression that the Baron has more climbing experience all around.
Interesting thread Brian.

I'd say it looks like he's related to The World's Most Interesting Man.BaronVonBergschrund wrote:I will post a picture to help you identify me.

Re: Who is the Baron??
We were just musing on this topic the other day. I have heard the name "Andy" thrown around several times but in the end, I think I'd rather have it a mystery like "How did the Egyptians move those huge blocks for the pyramids?"
