So he did the El D-Wilson traverse in less than an hour, in heavy rain? Wow.

How would navigating Wilson Peak in the dark with overcast conditions be?

That's my question as well. It is rather tricky Class 3 after false summit. With wet rock. In the dark (presumably, with head lamp).
And after that Sneffels completely in the dark as well. Did it stop raining at least?

No, he summited Wilson Peak at 15 hrs, 25 min cumulative time vs. 16 hrs, 26 min for Cave Dog at the same point, so he is approx 1 hr ahead.

I think you have your John's mixed up, that was John Kirk of LOJ, and I was along, quite the ride. Bill Wright is driving his Landcruiser while crewing for John, I would guess Mr. Speed climber is also a fast driver.

Looks like he got a little off-route and is now heading back to ROA saddle? Hope he's doing OK. It's wet, dark, COLD, he's probably tired, etc.

Although I cannot even begin to tryadn compare myself to the strengths of John Prater (let alone keep up alongside him), I like to think we have the same loves in mind when it comes to the mountains. He is an awesome ultrarunner and appears to be at the peak of his form right now.
Over the past 10 years, John has been with me in some of my important accomplishments. He was there to help me up Lizard Head. He was there when I completed my final Thirteener. He was there during Hardrock 2009 and generously paced me for my first night, giving me patient urgings and good conversation.He also appeared out of the inky darkness on my second night while volunteering at Putnam Aid Station to urge me along on my final 9 miles in to the finish.When I complained to John that I was very tired and couldn’t go faster , he instructed me to “find my strength.” I did as I was told and found my way to the finish line.

Now it appears that John has found his strength and is absolutely blooming in his capacity as an incredible athlete.
