This forum has lost a few members due to climbing accidents. I'm not aware of but one member dying in an automobile accident on the way to a trailhead.
I guess if you don't know about it; it didn't happen. GtK
Of all the 13er finishers, one died on a mountain, and three others had serious accidents that perhaps could have been much worse, and the spouse of one of the finishers was struck by lightning. Those are some incidents of about the 30 finishers that I know about. If I compare that to the driving mishaps of all the people I know, which is far greater than 30, I know of one person who died in a automobile accident and there have been numerous car accidents. But the hours on the road dwarfs the hours on the mountains. If people climbed about as much as they drive, you'd see far more deaths and injuries.
That's part of my rationale for rejecting that statement. If you wish to disagree, so be it. But underestimating the risks involved in mountaineering leads to complacency that can be bad. Real bad. People are better off understanding it's a false statement, at least for Class 3 and Class 4 climbs where the risks can be quite real and nothing to mess with. I've been at this for decades, and I've met far more people who have died in the mountains than have died on the road. Your mileage may vary.

I'm trying to figure out if it's an old poster re-branding themselves or just a shitty attempt at yet another candid troll account. I'm leaning strongly against actual new poster.
Bill is getting better at sniffing them out; he's found two of my alt accounts so far and I rarely even used one of them.

I very much agree - I think I'm leaning towards a re-brand with a side of troll.
My work IP address just changed to a new city, this would've been the perfect opportunity for me to start a new troll account. I missed the mark though.

I now see that when it comes to the topic of roads in Colorado, this intuition does not hold.... I'm gonna be more careful next time...
Mm, yeah, be careful with your presuppositions on initial conditions. In regards to nearly any topic really.

I've read this forum for awhile before joining so I'm aware of the 'troll shaming' that goes on here. I've added the Lure and Monster5 to my ignore list; so say what you will.
I will be in Colorado in the near future and will climb a few 14ers when I have the time. I joined now with the knowledge that there are some challenging posters here. But they will expose themselves and all I have to do is to put them on the ignore list.
There are also some very helpful posters here and I hope I can engage them when I need some help and insights.
Darcy gives a contentious but civil and valid point disagreeing with him on a relevant topic and he hits the ignore button (more so, he ANNOUNCED it).
In his first two days, he's already blocked at least three people, two admittedly for ribbing (extremely light) and one for absolutely nothing?
Maybe I was wrong about him being a shitty troll attempt. Maybe he'll provide amusement as he eventually holds insular filter bubble conversations with himself for when he comes to "Colorado in the near future and climbs a few 14ers when he has time." Maybe he'll even take 285 to get here.
Still. Money's on highpilgrim.

Thank you for that. I always try to keep in mind that one day I might meet the poster. Nonetheless, I always come back to the conclusion that the Internet really sucks for human interaction. In real life I barely have an enemy. But God only knows how many people hate me for my posts (including myself on occasion, to be frank).

I vehemently do not endorse this post.
BOISE BABY!!!! The next Denver. I think we'd all be wise to move there.
Boise is kind of like Colorado's underwear that was crumpled up and thrown in the corner after a long workout, and forgotten about for a couple months. There are good and bad connotations in that metaphor.
We also don't have a Sprouts.
