Democrat N face looked thin, but likely marginally OK?
Did you get a look at Witter from Eva?

Witter N face didn’t look continuous (off the unranked summit), but there were some northerly lines, and the east face looked possible still (see photo)

bergsteigen: yeah, I was thinking about Hassel NE as well. Approach from Hassel Lake, yeah? Wonder how much vertical is to be had at this point...

RE: Eva SE, I think I saw it on the drive up to Bancroft, and it looked kinda meh...but it could've been Parry, not sure.

noman_games: which lines on Neva? Direct from the summit, or Juliet?

k-berger:
the more wide open face of Jasper
- do you mean the NE face (Route #1 here: https://www.frontrangeskimo.com/jasper/)?
Yes, we skied snow lion (#2 on frontrangeskimo) and another party skied route #1 which looked to be in good shape

Interesting...when was this? Did you ski the NE face off the summit proper (i.e. the one above Hassell Lake), or the Divide Chutes?

Thanks!

I skied it May 27. So a long time ago with all these hot temps! I went off the summit proper down to bench above the lake (see photo)

Thanks for the beta. Went up on Saturday and Welcome Couloir didn't look very welcoming. Melted out at the top and thinning in the mid-section. Instead we hiked over to Eva and skied the face and you're correct that it is no longer continuous. It was still fun, but crazy how quickly things are melting.

I'll share what I know!

1) Sawatch does not look good at all outside of the standard "late season" ones like Grizz A
2) I was on Castle and Conundrum last weekend. Castle did not go at that time and required a 50 foot downclimb on loose rock. Conundrum actually skied great and I would suspect it is still in passable shape (although the crux is likely getting very skinny). There was snow from Conundrum to about 12000' two weeks ago.
3) Skied Skywalker on S Arapahoe yesterday and that is in pretty good shape. We did the Leia finish, Han Solo finish did not appear to be in (at least not all the way). Jasper NE face looked like you could get a long descent on it. Neva would be fine still, just a little skinny through most of the chutes below the summit snowfield. Overall Jasper looked like the most continuous ski in that basin.
4) At a significant distance, Tuning Fork and Emperor appeared to be in.

Overall, the theme for this spring has been the farther north you go, the better off you will be.

Torreys north face couloirs are definitely in, looking pretty decent still albeit requiring just a hint of a hike down from the summit. On that topic, still plenty of lines in on Cupid and Grizzly too.

Anderson Peak (13,631ft) North Face on Saturday (6/9.) Road to Ruby is open, too.

Nobody climbs 14ers anymore, they’re too crowded.

Thanks all for the great suggestions! For reasons I won’t go into, we ended up doing Bancroft again. Not a great decision in retrospect. It was good for about 700 feet starting from the summit, but after that it was discontinuous, requiring a hike over grass to reach snowfields that go down to the lake, which turned out to be a runneled mess. Oh well, should have listened to wiser voices :)

Anybody been up to skyscraper glacier on Corona/Rollins pass recently? In a different area, any info on the north face of Evans? Personally I know that The north side routes on Torreys are holding well and a bunch of the trail ridge road lines are still in.
