Clohesy Lake Camping - Missouri
Thinking of camping on the lake for a few nights just to chill and relax. Do people ever camp on the lake and how far of a hike is it from the gate at the end of the 4X4 trail? I only get to CO twice a year and did La Plata last from the end of the 4X4 road past Winfield and loved it! I was going to try and do Huron and Missouri this trip then I saw the lake and thought chilling on the lake for a few nights and only tagging one of the summits sounded better. Thoughts?

Did this a couple of weeks ago. It was less than 1/4 mile from the end of the gate to the lake. We camped on a hill above the lake, lots of flat areas to choose from. Great place to spend some time and I really enjoyed the hike of Missouri from here as well. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for the response. One more question, are there good trees for 2 hammocks near the lake or above where you camped and also what was the bug situation like?

I would think you would be able to find plenty of trees to hang a hammock from, most of the trees right around camp were spruces. I didn't have any problems with bugs, but was only there for one night.
