Yep, looks a lot different now with ARB bull bar, winch, sliders, rack. Like Brian mentioned, I'd buy another one of these or an 80 (if I could find a stock one from someone who doesn't know what they have), before buying a brand new anything... Im worried that the 300 series isn't gonna have the same reliability as all the generations before, and it will sort of be the end of the Cruiser... You start adding multiple turbos to things and the reliability goes way down (except for maybe diesel versions)...Conor wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 3:36 pmyou are correct. still have the 100?nsaladin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 3:14 pmI think you mean GX460, and in other markets, you know what they're called? Land Cruiser Prado. Sure, they're not a 80/100/200 series Cruiser, but they're not a 4Runner or FJ Cruiser either.Conor wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 6:43 am The FJ cruiser is nothing short of trash - no real 4th door, 3 windshield wipers and small drive train bits. Although, Toyota schtick is way underpowered engines and overbuilt drivetrains, so I doubt they hung the FJ cruiser out there like that. I'm as big of toyota fan boy as any, especially land cruisers. When FJ cruiser drivers try to wave I just hang my nose up in the air as high as I can. Just like the LX460, the FJ is not a real landcruiser.

I get people do it, I'm trying to understand who they are. Millennials still expect their mom's to drive them around in their 20's. All boomer's "got the raw end of the deal" and have no money according to themselves, Gen x is just there, but people expand the millennial & boomer tents so Gen x doesn't really exist.
Who are these people rushing out to buy a vehicle sight unseen?
I wouldn't have that many reservations about buying a new "untested" vehicle today (if I could find the gumption to spill the cash). America got over the "don't stop the line under any costs" mentality a long time ago. Not to mention, the engine, t case, tranny, dana 44 diffs etc are all tested and with exception of the dana 44, tested and known reliable as a system.
If I can see far enough down my nose, I might wave with one finger from my FJ. Re: New Ford Bronco
i've spent quite a lot of time researching the new broncos this week and i am absolutely floored. a number of tiny things that are irritating about the wrangler have been addressed and improved in the bronco lineup- a dysfunctional tailgate, lack of factory water-resistant/waterproof seats, inefficient in-vehicle door and hard/soft top storage solutions, solid axle car sickness, door-mounted side mirrors, etc. i am so impressed with ford's thoughtful design, but even beyond the aesthetics, the suspension system is superior and the power specs are superior. my only singular complaint is the lack of a transfer case shifter KNOB (rather than the dial- call me traditional) and that's not enough to stop me from buying one of these bad boys in 3-5 years. after i've enjoyed my 4runner for a bit longer (while saving up for something that will out-perform it, and both my (former) jeep wranglers fresh off the factory line) and after ford works out the oddball kinks and recalls, i'm signing up for a 2-door with a manual transmission, the 360 crawling cameras, HOSS setup with the bilstein shocks, front/rear locking diffs and the sway bar e-disconnects. i want the slide out tailgate storage system, floor drains, molle seat backs, hard top with the storage covers, the marine-grade vinyl upholstered seats, and of course, some tube doors.
this is THE best-equipped offroad vehicle off the factory line on the market. you will not find a single trail on which a stock rubicon will out-perform a similarly-equipped stock bronco and ford is going to capitalize on that, as well as the greatly-increased comfort of the bronco when compared to the "bare minimum" philosophy of the jeep wrangler. if you look into the history of the bronco, you will find it is NOT a ripoff of the jeep, and in my opinion, their design philosophy even now maintains that differentiation. jeep has been trying to play catchup for the last 15 years and they should be absolutely ASHAMED of their lack of innovation. they had the opportunity to make all of the improvements ford did and neglected to do so, perhaps in an effort to release the dumbest "truck" on the planet.
in closing, 35s are the new 33s

Re: New Ford Bronco
The 80s are tough. I would buy one done by someone else that was making upgrades, but is tired of owning an old vehicle. I'm $10k into mine just in heater core, new seats, new exhaust etc. I'm upgrading headlights since both mine got broken while at work and it's going to be $800 for hid projectors, new glass etc. I haven't even gotten into lift, bumpers etc. I did add on board air, prinsu rack and a second battery....There are tons of people like me going down the same road, with pressure from their wives to just buy a new vehicle. My other 80 with gm engine, lift bumpers etc i don't even talk about what i spent on that. Other than my gas tank just cracked and I'm upgrading to a long range for $2k....nsaladin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 3:45 pmYep, looks a lot different now with ARB bull bar, winch, sliders, rack. In other words, it's cheaper to buy one built than pour the money in yourself. Even a well maintained one is worth a lot more, even if they just have a parts list.

I'm not upset about the fact fj cruisers aren't real land cruisers if that is what you are implying.Matt wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 4:43 pmConor wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 8:12 amGenuinely curious. The Sasquatch looks awesome! You can get 35" tires from the factory https://www.motortrend.com/news/2021-fo ... oad-model/ . It also offers a turbocharged engine, which not many others do. I consider this a must for getting to the higher altitude trailheads.

Re: New Ford Bronco
Unless you happen to be waiting for a brand spanking new vehicle and you're sitting on a pile of cash (or credit!) RIGHT NOW it doesn't matter. There will always be something newer, bigger, better, faster next year. I try not to get pulled in by the latest sex appeal. Time will tell what the new Bronco will really turn out to be. A list of impressive specs and flashy marketing is just that. Remember DVD drives???

That is a great commercial, though at 3:05, it’s too long to play in most TV ad slots.Dan_Suitor wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 8:19 am Have you seen the commercial with Jimmy Chin? It's way cool! Here is a link
