Wetterhorn and Uncompahgre
So, I will be flying into Montrose from Florida for some climbing at the end of August. Do you guys have suggestions on places to stay? We were thinking of climbing Wetterhorn then crashing somewhere for the evening then returning the next day to climb Uncompahgre. We were tempted to do the combo but have shifted direction and think doing each individually will be a higher likelihood of success. Camping isn't really an option because of the flight and carrying all that gear on a plane isn't really feasible. Thoughts?

Lake City is a great place to stay but could be a little pricier. If you don't mind a bit of a drive, Gunnison is also an option - I stayed on the western edge of town a few weeks ago and it's only about a 90-minute drive to the Matterhorn Creek TH for Wetterhorn, a bit less for Nellie Creek TH to do Uncompahgre.
