Wow, I love these pics!

I don't know much about Mountain Lions, however assuming the date stamp is correct (10/29) it seems late in the year for these kittens to be so small and still spotted. Does anyone with more knowledge on big cats think the same thing, or is it normal for them to be this size still in Fall?

They can have kittens at any time of year. Summer births are more common but can happen in any month. Those guys are small to be out of the den so my guess is that there is some kind of threat where she feels she has to move them to another spot

The date stamp is correct and agree with the prior post as to timeframe for giving birth--generally May thru Oct--but can be anytime.

Given these kittens are about already half the height of their mother and their spots are starting to fade a little, I would age them at 3-6 months which means they are weaned and thus it would not be unusual for them to go on excursions with mom.

This fall I had close encounters with a mountain goat and an ermine on North Star and Fletcher, respectively. Both struck the same inquisitive pose.

They look about 3 months old. Maybe 4 months max. Agree, they start venturing out of the den. But more likely moving dens and doing short forays. She's almost certainly leaving them in a den while she hunts, then will go get them and bring them to the kill.
