2026 Goals

Post by Jon Frohlich »

Since it's usually posted about this time I'll get the party started.

1) Stay alive
2) Hike again

That's it. That's the list.

Given recent events, laudable goals, Jon! Good luck, be safe.

(1) Finish the Wyoming 12ers*
(2) Do a few winter peaks over 12k
(3) Get more AT experience and ski some peaks over 12k

*Note for (1) above: I'm looking for partners for Steeple (Winds), Moran-Thor traverse (Tetons), and any of my remaining nontechnical peaks too (particularly northern Absarokas). Please reach out if you're interested!

East Crestone, nothing else matters.

I lie. My goal is to get to 500 total 13ers, so 40 peaks. Make that 41 more 13ers, I forgot Columbia Point was demoted.

  • More technical climbing (leading)
  • TRY and finish the Frozen Fourteeners this season!
  • More Uintah 13ers
  • Turret Ridge, The Monument & Lizard Head
  • New England State Highpoints
  • Patagonia (sadly, no climbing)

1. get healthy
1b. stay healthy
2. finish my first lap of the 14ers

beyond that, i'll be checking off a list of routes i recently started (obviously named for a taylor swift song, Wi$h Li$t) and will be working through those indefinitely. some fun projects in the Li$t include summiting the peaks in our wedding photos, the peaks i can see from our new backyard, the list of 73, the great traverses, and some of Gerry's *Classic* routes.

Very simple goal for me.

Climb the 5 new 14ers I need to get to 57 so Pike’s can be the finisher in 2027. Stop doubting, stop being negative and stop making excuses. Just get it done.
“Is there a thing of which it is said, ‘See, this is new’? It has been already in the ages before us. There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of later things yet to be among those who come after.” - Ecclesiastes 1:10-11

“A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion” - Proverbs 18:2

“Behold, he who forms the mountains and creates the wind - the Lord, the God of hosts, is his name” - Amos 4:13

Keeping it broad to allow for flexibility, and hoping for good weather, no injuries...etc:

1. 10-17 new 13ers
2. At least 1 multi-day backpacking trip in the Weminuche (preferably 2 or even 3 -- Needles and Grenadiers). Definitely minimum 2 trips to the San Juans (preferably 3 -- maybe a Cimarron trip).
3. 5-12 new centennials
4. at least 1 Gore 13er
5. at least 1 Elk 13er
6. complete another annual solo 4th of July (/or thereabouts) trip
7. Do as many hikes with other people as solo
8. Wheeler Mountain to finish the Tenmile Range
9. Actually get in shape so that they aren't all sufferfests
