There is a nice campground at the trailhead ($15 bucks a night as I remember) with toilets but no water.
Arrive the day before your climb and set you alarm for 3am. Be on the trail by 4am (bring a head lamp)
and check the sky continually while you hike. The trailhead is above tree line.
I've been climbing these peaks for ~50 years. I regularly turn around whenever the sky looks
threatening even if it is at first light.

That's a good point. There's been numerous times where I've had thunderstorms before 8:00 a.m. Even at first light which down low or in the forest seems pretty innocuous but once you're above tree line and exposed can be terrifying if there's lightning. Always be flexible to turn around and try again another day. Gambling with lightning just isn't worth it.
