It's only the worst summer, so far.
Interesting prologue to next winter.

Re: Worst Summer Ever??
I’m a skier in UT, so yeah, with the no-pack, wind, heat, smoke, and fires, this might be the worst. 2020 is a contender overall, but Covid didn’t affect me much since I was already “socially distanced.”
Like Justin said though, it’s not over yet.
We’re gonna have a HUUUGE winter this year!

The running joke around Tahoe is that this is going to be THE all-time winter for skiing --
It's just not clear yet if it's going to be powder skiing or water skiing.

i am hopeful that the el nino pattern as we get into late summer and fall will bring the above average moisture... at a minimum i think el nino years are not so windy so the fall/early winter fire season hopefully wont be so bad

Re: Worst Summer Ever??
One of the problems in recent years has been that, even when we do get above average moisture, the inevitable scorching heat wave follows and melts everything like a snow cone in Phoenix, and the water is sapped up from everywhere all too fast.
I've only been here a month, but I would concur that the air quality that I've seen so far qualifies this as the "worst summer ever" that I can remember. Scenery has been noticeably compromised, and on some days, I can't believe that the haze I've seen can go harmlessly in and out of the lungs. Let's hope for a turn-around as we head towards fall.

If Lake City burns up I will have to concede, worst summer ever.
