Best 14er experience

I am relatively new to hiking but have some decent experience. I want to summit a 14er over winter break with two of my friends and ideally camp in a serene spot on the mountain. I'm considering Humboldt and Mt. Elbert right now but was also interested in a Mount Belford, Mount Oxford, and Missouri Mountain loop. Overall looking for a beautiful winter climb and time with my bros. Any recommendations for 14ers or routes that get a little treacherous would be great too. If anybody has any advice for what to go with or what to bring, it would be much appreciated.

Here’s another great resource for planning. It will give you the recommended winter route for each peak. Keep in mind some of the easier 14ers in summer can be tough to get in winter due to avalanche danger and/or access issues. Handies, for example, is a pretty big day in winter and can pose significant avi danger via the standard winter route. Missouri is also a beast in winter compared to summer. Belford & Oxford would be a great option and there are good camping options at treeline. Humboldt is fantastic in winter but keep in mind the standard winter route (East Ridge) is not the same as the summer route and it can be brutal in terms of trail-breaking. Hopefully you are planning on getting some basic avalanche awareness training before you go?
