Handies East Slope Camping in August

Post by mrandmrsrueckert »

My husband and I are going to be climbing Handies East Slope in the middle of August. We would like to start around 3-4am so we can get to the peak by sunrise. Is there camping at the trailhead?
Thanks!

East Slopes shares trailhead with Redcloud/Sunshine and has plenty of camping. Enjoy a great scenic hike!

No they won't. But it still isn't anywhere near as crowded as the TH campsites further east in the state. At least that has been my experience. I may be heading that way next week, I'll give an update and probably a TR for Sunshine and Redcloud when I come home.
Seems like the times that I need a mountain the most are the times that I can not get to them.

.
I'll look forward to that. Heading that way the 26th to camp and climb. Been told the wild flowers are sweet down that way right now.
