I found the snow - FYI

Post by druid2112 »

Didn't really see a way to put this in regular conditions report since South Rawah is only a 12er.

In any case, went up to Rawah Wilderness to fish in Rawah Lakes #3 & #4 and thereabouts. No dice. As soon as we turned off West Branch trail onto Rawah trail, we hit more and more and more snow until we bailed. Didn't get anywhere near the lakes.

Who knew? I've fished and camped snow-free at 12k feet last two weekends. Anyway, we found the snow....

Does not surprise me at all. The northern part of state had normal snowfall this past winter. Had the same experience this past weekend in the Comanche Peak Wilderness. Made it above treeline in the morning when the snow was solid. Getting back down was another story...
