Paintings of 14ers

I want to share images that are part of a project that I have set for myself. I am working to paint a 18" by 24" Portrait of all of Colorado's fourteen thousand foot mountains. I have been at this for about 2 years, and I'm about half finished. I am seeking feedback, particularly regarding what to do with the finished collection.

Virtually all of these images are done from a perspective that not commonly used. A portrait of a mountain is similar to one of a person in that it is done from "eye level." It is of the most interesting side and from a distance that is not too close. Artistic license allows dramatic lighting and weather. The perspective and the "most interesting side" are at the artist's opinion.

Those look great, especially Antero. I was in awe of that view after reaching the ridge on Princeton, which I figure is the perspective for that painting.

Unsure what you could do with them... not an artist so this may be a stupid question but can you quickly duplicate them at all? There's a few shops in Leadville, BV, etc. that sell pretty cool 14er carvings and things and I could see the paintings fitting in there.

I guess if I were you, I'd put a few up in the house and rotate them every few months. Or maybe put your favorite summit from each range together in a hallway or something. Just spitballing, but that'd be a neat way to commemorate your hikes!

Cool. How about talking to CMC, American Alpine Club, American Mountaineering Museum folks about display in Golden?

Oh, and Ellingwood view from California is very interesting if you haven't already done that one.

Very nice ! Are you planning on displaying some of these these at a local art fair (to display your work and exchange ideas with other artists, my guess is the Rockies inspire Art colonies like the New England coast) ? A quick google shows there are a ton of them throughout the year in Colorado. If you are doing a set of all the 14ers , would that mean you are not going to break up the set ? Thanks for sharing.

cool style. I saw a similar one of Longs/Meeker painted on silk (or some similar fabric) hanging from a coffee shop window in Estes Park. It let some of the light shine through. Lots of options for these - if you have a complete set seems like it would even be a good traveling exhibit at an art museum/gallery.

It is my hope to share all of this series of paintings on this web site in a 432 by 324 pixel size. I presently have completed about 40. On my first post I attempted to upload 12 pictures, but just three were accepted. I am very new to this sort of internet action. This is the first time I have used something beyond email and browsing. I have read the admonition warning me not to advertise or sell on this site and that is not my intention. I am here to promote this project, but also to receive encouragement to finish it. What is to be done with the final finished collection can be decided later. That is likely still a couple of years off. Thanks for the suggestions and compliments.

What I really need now is advice or permission regarding the technical side of uploading these pictures. I need to know if this is an appropriate use of this forum and how to do it.

I am going to try to upload the remaining 9 images with this post.

Mike, I think your project is a pretty cool idea. The paintings look awesome! I am sure there will be a countless number of good ideas for what to do with them. As you sort through the suggestions, I encourage you to reflect on what inspired you to do them in the first place.

Here is one more idea...
Many climbers have a favorite 14er. I think it would be cool to be able to go online, and order a customized poster, suitable for framing, of a person's favorite 14er, that is your painting, with a superimposed summit sign in a corner of the poster. The superimposed summit sign would include the name of the mountain, the elevation, and the date the person ordering the poster first summited the 14er. Of course, the poster could also be ordered without the summit sign for people who just want a copy of the painting.
