Rock lake area San Juans
Greetings, I am planning on backpacking into the Rock lake area in the Weminuche at the end of August or early September. I am hoping to visit summits in the area (Peters group, Weminuche, Soso, Oso, Irving etc). If anyone wants to tag along for some or all that would be cool. Feel free to PM or respond here. I'm not sure on the exact dates yet and it may depend on weather forecasts. I am tentatively planning on approaching via Beartown TH although I might have to go with Vallecito TH. I've done my homework but any tips/recent updates on the approaches or peaks in the area are also welcomed. Have a nice day!

If you approach from Beartown, you could drop your pack on Hunchback Pass and climb Hunchback Peak.

Yes, great idea! I was able to visit there last summer and day-trip it with White Dome and Peak One.
Re: Rock lake area San Juans
I did all of the peaks in your first post from camping near Moon Lake, with the two unnameds that run south of Soso. As from having to drop to Rock Creek and climb back over the pass between Rock Lake/Half Moon Lake after the Peters Group, it was a great basecamp for these peaks and a pretty place to camp. If you don't do the Beartown Approach, this may be a better option to Vallecito? Trail starts at Pine River CG and runs about 6 fairly flat miles before the turnoff to Emerald Lake.

@ChicagoTransplant Thanks for the tip! I am always terrified of destroying the tacoma whenever I use Beartown as an approach (rough road and/or marmots chewing wires). I've been lucky twice but I don't know know if 3rd time is a charm
Looks like roughly a 15mi approach from the campground to moon lake, better than Vallecito for sure.
