Post by angry »

I can't believe it's already December but so excited to summit some winter peaks! Thinking about the new year ahead and setting the following goals for 2025:

1. Liberty Cap (lower 48 14er finisher)
2. South Howser Tower
3. Some trad routes in RMNP
4. 1 International Climbing Trip
5. 25 ski days
6. Whatever my dog wants to do

I won't cut and paste the whole thing, but some highlights include climbing all the major peaks in the Rwenzori, some of the Virunga Volcanoes, and possibly a winter ascent of Mera Peak in the HImalayas later in the year.

What I want most though is to find some partners for some easy/moderate technical stuff, especially in Colorado and Utah. Please let me know if you are interested.

As it were, you'd knock out 2 for the price of one! The Bugaboos are very sweet indeed.

Been on my list forever and I think this will finally be the year. Did you do Beckey-Chouinard? I'd love to hear about it!

I plan to do the following Colorado peaks in this order next August.

1. Vermillion Peak
2. Mt Sneffels Southwest Ridge Route
3. Wilson Peak Standard Route
4. Gladstone Peak (If I can fit it in)
5. El Diente Peak (From Kilpacker Basin via Standard Route)
6. Mt Wilson (From Kilpacker Basin, Traverse from El Diente)
7. Holy Cross Halo Route

I plan to do a September trip to Colorado as well with a buddy who prefers Class 1 and 2 hikes. It is likely we will stick to Centennial 13ers in the Mosquito Range on this trip with Mt Silverheels thrown in from the Front Range as well. If the weather and time work in our favor, I may try to include Castle and Conundrum Peaks in the Elks.

I also have a July trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone with my wife. This is mostly for her, but I hope to fit in some time to climb a peak.

If Lindsey opens up then I plan to try to finish the Sangre 14ers next summer.

As things stand though, I seem to have left myself with the 14ers that are farthest away from Denver and/or difficult 14ers. I would like to have partners for most of these so if anyone wants to team up, let me know! I'm not really picky about which ones I go after right now. Maybe not Capitol yet.

In the meantime I'm going to focus on 13ers in the Front Range, Mosquito, and 10 Mile. It will be nice not to have to drive so much and I haven't done much in these ranges since the beginning of my 14er quest.

It's gonna be our 3rd trip in CO, first outside of the front/mosquito/sawatch ranges, we'll be heading to the San Juan. Working on the centennials (nope no Vestal/Arrow/Dallas/etc. for this trip). Chicago basin + Turret/Pigeon will be a long ride..

A member of our hiking group died on Windom in 2012, so this one will be a bit special.

My interests have shifted a bit, so 2025 goals are:

A) First 100K trail race
B) First 50 Miler trail race
C) First 50K trail race

I'd still like to finish the Sawatch when I have time, though. A little off topic I guess, but I plan on gaining lots of elevation on my trail runs which will ultimately make me a better climber.
