San Juan/Elk 13ers

Post by piper14er »

I am looking for some people interested in San Juan 13ers and/or a hand full of Elk 13ers. Beartown area 13ers, camping trip possibly. Looking at June through September time period for the most part. It would be good to have someone aid in route finding for one thing. Also, would be looking for someone with some climbing experience for peaks like Coxcomb, Peak Fifteen and such. PM me or email me if interested and we to discuss interests, abilities, peaks. Thanks. Al

I'd definitely be interested.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

Super interested in the Stormy Gulch 13ers (Silex, Guardian, SK, 7), as well as some of the misc ones (Heisspitz-6...etc) . I'm (by 14er/13er standards, at least) on the slower side, and I won't be joining for the technical peaks, but would love to do more scrambling in the Wemi.

Peak Six is my last BC. I think doing it from Beartown is the best bet. I wouldn't mind nabbing some other peaks while I'm back there as well. Leviathan, Vallecito? Would also hang out while you do some that I've already climbed or do repeats. Richard
The summit is a source of power. The long view gives one knowledge and time to prepare. The summit, by virtue of the dizzying exposure, leaves one vulnerable. A bit of confidence and a dash of humility is all we get for our work. Yet to share these moments with friends is to be human. C. Anker

Al, I'd do "S 4", Coxcomb (can lead if necessary) and El Punto and "Heisshorn" with you. They're close by and fun.

Silex, Guardian, Storm King and 7 are high on my list for this year via Bear Town, camp for a couple of nights. You've listed several of my remaining Bicents. Would love to meet and join up with some people who I've followed for years on the site. -Bo

Thanks to everyone who responded. I just wanted to let people know I haven't forgotten anyone and am in the process of putting together some peak groups and some others that are not necessarily linked to other peaks. Unfortunately, I have been very busy with moving my wife's 92-year-old mother out of her house getting ready to sell and have had to deal with decades of clothes, furniture, dishes etc. Getting closer, so should be able to get peaks figured out soon. I have had some p.m.'s and other contact with some people and will get back with you too. Al
