Durango-Silverton Logistics Help

Post by M00sesDad »

I'll be traveling to Durango to start a fastpacking trip through Chicago Basin and carrying on to Silverton. Super excited to be out in the wilderness!
Here's the rub: Leaving my truck in Durango will require me to go back to Durango on train/bus then drive straight back through Silverton afterwards (min 4 hrs transit time just to retrieve the truck)
If anyone could help or connect me with a responsible driver who could drive my truck from Durango to Silverton and leave it there on either 7/6 or 7/7, I'm willing to pay for driver's return trip costs and time spent helping me out!
I'll stay tuned to the forum and share contact info if there's interest!

Thanks in advance!

If you can't find someone to do this, maybe just hitchhike back to Durango. It's pretty easy to thumb a ride by the southbound lane near the gas station in Silverton. Then it's closer to ~2 hours round-trip. Has worked great for us a bunch of times. That's how I learned about The Microchip.

Alternate option: I believe the Durango train offers like a shuttle ride package from Silverton to Durango for those who only want to take the train one way. I wonder if you could call them and see if they'd sell you a one way ticket on the shuttle from Sil-Dur

What day are you taking the train to start? My husband and I are looking to get onto someone's group ticket for Friday and could potentially help with car assist on Sunday.
