AT Info Request

I know its a low snow year to say the least. But Ill be heading out to CO from my home state end of this week. I was hoping to doing some easy touring potentially at Hoosier Pass. Anyone local comment on whether I am just wasting my time packing my AT skis? Im coming from MN so even the small hills in the area would be worth it for me, if they are skiable.

You'll be hard pressed to find powder but I think just getting out and seeing the high peaks in winter is special, even if the skiing isn't great. Hoosier pass should have enough coverage to ski but it will be fairly windswept above TL and sharky/thin below. Just go in with the expectation of taking your ski's for a walk and you may find some good turns anyhow.

I don't know what conditions are like at Hoosier pass, but Berthoud pass has enough snow to get some good skiing in.

Was thinking of the hill immediately uphill from the Hoosier Pass parking lot (same side of road). Its been a fun and easy slope to lap in the past. Thought being in the trees might keep it less wind-swept.

Any other good suggestions for mellow outings?

if you're staying in that area vail pass would be a winner for something easy

Thanks for the advice. Will drop by the meadow mountain line and check it out. Ill be solo so not looking for anything avy risky

We were up on Hoosier Pass last week and that hill is still pretty thin since the tree coverage there is spotty. There's a narrow section, about 200 feet wide on looker's left of the hill that is skiable. Most of the right side is exposed rocks and vegetation still.
