John Kirk is the freaking man, and Alyson is better than I’ll ever be. During the last night solo camping in Ruby Basin, at the end of season I had a choice. Tuck tail and leave my last bicentennial for the next year (2026 late summer) or approach Pigeon/Turret saddle and figure it out. A lonely one bar of service led me to a report by John. The turret saddle to Peak 15 goes! What an epic solo day trip and one I’ll never forget. Thanks John, that being said it would be amazing if the LoJ format was updated one of these years! He really is a pioneer for beta on a lot of the CO peaks.

I love LoJ. I can spend hours exploring the labyrinth of peak and user statistics, sometimes finding a new feature or set of pages that I never knew existed even though I've been using the site for years. Kind of like a Wikipedia safari.

I like the low bandwidth, no frills nature of the site. The black background is aesthetically pleasing, and more importantly, the site loads fast with one bar of service.

John and Alyson are indeed both awesome! And, oh the rabbit holes I've found myself going down on LoJ. It's a mountain / data lovers paradise!

Their website really got me into local peakbagging. After a lot of exploring, I eventually finished El Paso, Teller, and Douglas counties. As well as the CO county high points, the CO P3Ks, and later the CO county prominence points. I do appreciate John updating as many peaks he can with better data.

A recent update on the site that is really helpful, for those with logins, is a personalized list of newly ranked and newly demoted peaks. The demoted list shows the reason, the nearby higher peak if applicable, and whether you climbed the new one or not and when.

It’s under New Content + LiDAR, then LiDAR: Your Peak Changes.

Yeah, I found the website rather hard to navigate at first, but I got used to it, and there's definitely something to be said for websites that just do what they're supposed to do without unnecessary frills.

LOJ is the best site for us hiking/list addicts!

One correction to the podcast, you mention that John has 13k+ summits and Alyson has 12k+ summits. If you include the unranked US summits, John has 8,212 and Alyson has 7,248, still crazy numbers!

Listened to the podcast this morning, what a great episode. Best wishes to Alyson for a quick recovery. I enjoyed reading her book On My Way Up, which goes into more detail on both of their personal journeys. It is inspiring to learn about people taking a negative like addiction and turning it into fuel for their achievements.

LoJ has been a huge influence on my post 14er hiking career. I've done so many cool summits I never would have climbed otherwise. Makes the research on obscure peaks infinitely easier and it's fun to watch what other random things people are out doing.

If you are doing peaks less than 13k it's invaluable. If John ever tries to give up running it I'm just going to offer to take it over and drop the H.
