JerJerBinks, 14ers finisher on Mount Wilson

JerJerBinks finished the list of 58 Colorado 14ers on July 4, 2026, on Mount Wilson – and he shared it with me, his twin!

About three years ago, Jer came up with a big, wild dream. He would climb Little Bear Peak. Without fully appreciating what that meant, without having scrambled a thing in his life, without ever really leaving a trail on purpose, it was Little Bear or bust.

Listening to some really good advice, he started smaller. La Plata, Halo Ridge, alternate routes, snow climbs… his mind expanding, his heart full. Making new friends, soloing hard peaks, pursuing life. Saying things like, “Longs Peak – that’s when the train leaves the station,” and sending touching emails about deeper meaning from the summit of Snowmass, vowing to share that climb and summit – and following through the next spring.

A mountain bodhisattva, he lured me in with that shining light and made me a climbing partner. My mind expanding, my heart full.

He found the summit of Little Bear during his second summer, solo, along with so many other growth peaks he’ll probably repeat with me – or another friend. At some point after Little Bear, from my perspective anyway, the list of 58 peaks faded a little. He didn’t need to climb them all right now. He knew that he could, and that left more time for repeats, 13ers, and friendships.

This weekend, he finished up with the Wilsons. They all demanded our attention, but they did not disappoint.

Hell yeah!!! I remembered you were getting close - this is absolutely worthy of a toast the next time we're at the same Happy Hour! Looking forward to hearing about what you've got planned for life beyond fourteeners, whether that's more peakbagging/checklists, generically cool (figuratively as well as literally?) hikes, or taking up a whole new sport entirely!
