I read this last night. The 13 hour alarm delay and the paths shown by the trackers would appear to not bode well for these climbers. Still, I hope for survivors.

One of the bodies recovered was Nadhira Al Harthy from Oman. She was on my Everest team. Lovely woman..bright humble, and tough! RIP Nani!

The summit is a source of power. The long view gives one knowledge and time to prepare. The summit, by virtue of the dizzying exposure, leaves one vulnerable. A bit of confidence and a dash of humility is all we get for our work. Yet to share these moments with friends is to be human. C. Anker

I have a zoomed in video of that slope sliding wth people in it if I can find it where one person broke their leg last year. My only interaction with Nims was on Manaslu where in that brief interaction he was incredibly kind offering to share a whiskey in base camp at the end of the expedition which unfortunately never happened. Rest in peace to all the climbers lost and sccounted for so far.

Some details of this story continue to change. According to this link from the BBC 2 bodies have actually been recovered while 7 others have been spotted by aerial drones though their condition is unclear. The location of the final climber remains unknown.

Mingma G posted that 9 of the 10 bodies have been found. At this point, ~36 hours post-incident, the chances of anything positive are near 0

Edit - confirmed that there were no survivors

I confirmed with my agency from last year that it was this exact same slope that was triggered this year around 21,600 to 22,500ft. I took this video after a 3 day storm in 2025 while we waited in base camp for the snow to settle several climbers descended and watched them trigger this avalanche. You can see one person in the end of the video that was caught in it. Fortunately the only thing that happened with this one was a broken leg but this years avalanche after a week of heavy snowfall was much MUCH bigger. Traveling up that slope even after it had settled for a few days to camp 3 still felt pretty sketchy.

Sorry the video is shaky. It happened fast so grabbed the closest camera to me which was old canon pocket camera.

Rest in peace to all those lost.
