East Cross Creek Campsites — Saturday Timing?

Post by MileHighMarmot »

Planning to backpack into East Cross Creek this Saturday and climb Holy Cross Sunday. It’ll be my first solo overnight and hoping to grab one of the 10 designated sites. For anyone who’s been recently, what time would you recommend getting there? I was thinking early afternoon, early enough for an August Saturday?

I’m planning on attempting HC the Saturday after Labor Day and was also considering camping at East Cross Creek. Curious to hear what time you got there and if you had any trouble getting a sight? Also, do you think backpacking in and camping was better than doing it in a single push?

A lot of people like packing in and making it a two day thing. The camp spots are nice. Personally I didn't mind doing it in a single push.I think it depends on your level of fitness and if you just want to make it a two day thing or not.
