Hermit Pass / Rito Alto Bugs

Anyone have recent conditions on the bugs when camping at Hermit Pass road / hiking Rito Alto?

We camped near Marshall Pass two weeks ago and the bees and flies were like a giant pack of mosquitos constantly harassing us when we were sitting outside of the tent. My wife will not be interested in reliving that experience again this weekend.
