Overnight Parking before Bells Traverse

Hello,

Me and my buddy are headed up to Aspen to do the Bells Traverse at the end of September. We are both full time College students so, we wont be able to get to Aspen until the evening before our hike. I've seen mixed reviews about being able to overnight park at the Brush Creek & HWY 82 Intercept Lot so, I was just curious if anyone here has done this or has information on if we will get a ticket if we park and sleep there.

Unless something has changed in the last week or so, you should be fine. There is no camping, it's sleeping in the car.

There's also an overnight parking area at the corner of Owl Creek Road and Highway 82

a "no camping" sign in a parking lot typically prohibits sleeping in your car and this includes the brush creek lot. in fact, according to the aspen times in february of this year, the commissioner at the time cited her intent to revisit that policy in the future for this lot.

the mixed reviews could be partially attributed the recent construction on the lot-- while it used to be pitch black (and an amazing place to sleep before hiking if you don't mind the sound of a few jake brakes here and there), i am certain the inclusion of an abundance of very bright lights is meant as a deterrent to sleeping in your car in the lot. that doesn't mean people don't do it, but it is definitely not encouraged or legal.
