Grand Mesa was decent this afternoon between Mesa Lakes and Skyway Point. Should probably be a little better this weekend. It's too bad there's a bunch of smoke from a prescribed burn on the Uncompahgre Plateau.

Mt Elbert and Twin Lakes on Tuesday September 26. Aspen nearing peak and showing full spectrum from green to gold. Beautiful drive over Independence Pass to Aspen.

Climbed California Peak yesterday from Huerfano valley. Aspen are about 30% changed. Maybe another 5-7 days.

I give a thumbs up to McClure, Kebler, and Ohio Pass. Kebler green on the west side, but plenty of trees changing in the middle. Ohio also some green stuff, but plenty of yellow aspen.

Was planning on hiking Iron Nipple and the other 13ers near Lindsey this coming weekend as I’d just assumed the winds from this weekend would have stripped most of the state bare by then, but the recent Sangres pics have me hopeful there may be some lingering color. Is there a particular drainage or area I should hike to after bagging the Lily Lake peaks for some big groves of aspen or cottonwoods?

Didn't stop to take photos but coming back from the Fall Gathering the leaves were absolutely amazing on either side of Gunnison!

drove through Crested Butte to get back to Denver, can confirm- it was amazing.
having driven through the Front Range, Sawatch, San Juans, and Elks this past weekend it was almost like the entire state was near-peak in the same couple of days, which strikes me as unusual?

Sangres were popping off this weekend. The aspens were a balanced mix of green and yellow, little bits of red/orange, minimal browning. Tundra and smaller foliage was also great

This is what I noticed mostly when we were riding in the Boat - the undergrowth was some great combos of red, yellow, and even burnt orange. I'd never ridden through bright yellow ferns and thimbleberries that were handle-bar high. It was really nice.
